French synagogue attacker charged with terrorism offences

The main suspect involved in an attack on a synagogue in southern France at the weekend has been charged with attempted terrorist murder committed on the grounds of race or religion and for criminal terrorism association.

Two cars were set on fire in a car park underneath a synagogue near the seaside resort of La Grande Motte on Saturday. The resultant explosion injured a police officer.

According to France's National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT), the main suspect has been identified as a 3-year-old Algerian, "EHK".

Another man, who was allegedly aware of the plans has been charged with "terrorist conspiracy".

A third person has been indicted for "concealment of a terrorist criminal" after driving EHK after the attack.

It has been reported that the main suspect had been radicalised in the practice of his religion and had a hatred for Jews, which particularly focused on the situation in Palestine.
