Man sentenced for sharing terrorist publications

A man from Newport, Gwent has been sentenced for terrorism offences, after an investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing Wales.
Hakan Baran pleaded guilty to five offences relating to dissemination of terrorist publications and one offence relating to supporting a proscribed organisation and was sentenced to three years and nine months imprisonment.
Detective Chief Inspector Leanne Williams, from Counter Terrorism Policing Wales, said: “I welcome the outcome at court today. Without any doubt, Hakan Barac is a dangerous individual and this sentence concludes what has been a lengthy and complex investigation conducted by detectives in CTP Wales.
“Barac clearly expressed his support for the Islamic State, and it was our absolute priority to ensure the public were protected from him and the abhorrent rhetoric he espoused”.
