Two teenagers have been charged after two zombie knives were recovered in Birmingham.

Officers patrolling Birmingham city centre on Friday 23 October searched a boy who was stopped near the 'Ramp' on Stephenson Place. A zombie knife was recovered and the 15-year-old was arrested.

He has now been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and will be appearing before Birmingham Magistrates on 1 December.

Later the same day, officers detained another 15-year-old boy after a foot chase after the boy reacted to their presence. A zombie knife was recovered and he was arrested.

He has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, and will be appearing before Birmingham Magistrates on 17 November.

The arrests were part of Project Guardian, a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence. There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
