Stats published on operation of police powers under Terrorism Act

The Home Office has published a quarterly update to March 2023 on operation of police powers under the Terrorism Act 2000.
The document contains statistical material relating to the Terrorism Act 2000, including arrests and outcomes, and stops and searches.
The statistics reveal that there were 169 arrests for terrorism-related activity in the year ending 31 March 2023. This is 27 fewer than in the year ending 31 March 2022, representing a 14 per cent decrease.
Of the 169 arrests for terrorist-related activity: 52 (31 per cent) resulted in a charge, of which 46 were for terrorism-related offences; 65 (38 per cent) persons were bailed to return and released under investigation; 43 persons (25 per cent) were released without charge; and 9 (5 per cent) faced alternative action, for example, receiving a caution or recalled to prison.
In the year ending 31 March 2023, 53 persons were tried for terrorism-related offences, which is 7 fewer than in the year ending 31 March 2022.
As of 31 March 2023m there were 232 persons in custody for terrorism-connected offences in Great Britain.
