US special forces kill ISIS leader in north Somalia

According to reports, US special forces have killed senior ISIS leader Bilal al-Sudani and 10 others in a raid on a mountain cave complex in northern Somalia.

Bilal al-Sudani is thought to have played a key role in bankrolling the terror group's activities in Africa and Afghanistan, as well as leading the organisation in Somalia.

Lloyd Austin,US Defence Secretary, said: "Al-Sudani was responsible for fostering the growing presence of ISIS in Africa,"

This action leaves the United States and its partners safer and more secure, and it reflects our steadfast commitment to protecting Americans from the threat of terrorism at home and abroad."
