Man arrested after car crashes into Downing Street

A man has been arrested after a car crashed into the gates outside Downing Street.

According to the Metropolitan police, the man was arrested by by armed officers on suspicion of criminal damage and dangerous driving.

There are no reports of any injuries.

The force said investigations were ongoing and Whitehall has been closed by police.
