Cameron chairs emergency meeting in wake of Brussels attacks

Prime Minister David Cameron has chaired an emergency Cobra meeting in the wake of the attacks in Brussels on 22 March. The purpose of the meeting was to determine the UK’s response to the attacks, which took place at Brussels airport and the Maalbeek station. So far 34 have been confirmed dead from the attacks, as well as 250 wounded, included two Britons. Concerns have also been raised over British man David Dixon, who was in Brussels and has not been seen since the attack. Cameron confirmed that security has been stepped up following the attacks due to what he described as ‘a very real terror threat’ to all of Europe. Home Secretary Theresa May is expected to make a statement in the Commons at 12.30 outlining the UK government’s official response.
