Nottingham man charged with terrorism offence

A man from Nottingham has been charged with a terrorism offence, after being arrested during an operation led by Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands.

William Howitt is charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Detective Inspector Christopher Brett, of Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands, said: "Police will always act on information relating to terrorism and I would urge anyone who witnesses anything suspicious to contact police on 101, or 999 in an emergency."
