Two men sentenced to life for planning terrorist attack

Three men have been jailed for planning a terrorist plot targeting the Jewish community in Greater Manchester.
Walid Saadaoui from Abram was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 37 years and Amar Hussain was sentenced to life with a minimum of 26 years.
Bilel Saadaoui from Hindley was sentenced to more than six years in prison.
In December 2025, Walid Saadaoui and Amar Hussein were convicted of preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to section 5(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2006.
Bilel Saadaoui was found guilty of failure to disclose information about an act of terrorism.
In late 2023, Walid Saadaoui began exchanging messages online with a man he believed shared his extremist views. These messages reveal that Saadaoui was keen to conduct a significant terrorist attack targeting Jewish people.
However, the person he was talking to was actually an undercover operative.
Saadaoui also introduced the undercover operative to Amar Hussein, an individual considered to be like-minded and looking to be involved with the plot. The pair believed that the undercover operative could import automatic firearms from abroad which could be used in an attack.
The pair continued to develop their plans and conducted reconnaissance around Upper Broughton in Salford. They also visited the Port of Dover to have a look at the border where they believed their firearms would be imported.
The investigation also uncovered that Walid Saadaoui had discussed his plans with his brother Bilel Saadaoui.
