Terror charges for Solihull father and son

A 19-year-old man is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court charged with a terrorism offence.

Samuel Newey, from Solihull, was arrested and charged with the intention of assisting Daniel Newey to commit, prepare or instigate an act of terrorism, engaged in conduct in preparation for giving effect to his intention. He will appear alongside 49-year-old Paul Newey who is charged with funding terrorism.

In addition to this, 52-year-old Aftab Khan, from Coventry, will also appear at Westminster Magistrates Court charged with five counts of disseminating terrorism material and one count of possessing material likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

Khan was arrested in July 2019 following a pre-planned operation. A 38-year-old man, also arrested during the same operation at a separate address, has been charged with firearms offences.
