UK victims of Israel attacks able to apply to compensation

The secretary of state for foreign, commonwealth and development affairs has designated the attacks in Israel starting from, but not limited to, 7 October 2023 as acts of terrorism.

The designation means that applications can be made to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) under the Victims of Overseas Terrorism Compensation Scheme 2012 (VOTCS) by those victims injured, or the families of those killed, in the attacks.

Applicants do not need a solicitor or claims management company to apply.

Victims are reminded that free independent advice may be available from Victim Support or other charitable organisations and support for victims of terrorism is available on gov.uk.
