CTB365 to look at Event Management Security

Counter Terror Business has revealed that the second CTB365 event, taking place on 8 October, will look at event security and the protection of public places.

The government has set a ‘doors open’ date for public events of 1 October, subject to the satisfactory staging of a series of pilot events during August.

In light of that announcement, as well as the congested event schedule for 2021, brought about by the global coronavirus pandemic, event security and the protection of public places will very much be in the media’s focus.

The threat of another terrorist attack is worryingly likely in the next 12 months and, given the sheer number of events there will be, the opportunity to hit a very public ‘soft target’ could prove irresistible to malicious actors. How is industry prepared for this? What technological advances have there been since Manchester that could prevent a recurrence? How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected the publics’ view/ confidence of attending events? How is this being addressed by event organisers?

These are the key questions that will be addressed on 8 October at the CTB365 ‘Event Management Security’ online interactive event, sponsored by Evolv Technology and Visual Management Systems.

Hosted once again by terrorism expert Philip Ingram, the agenda for the day will discuss: Martyn’s Law and new, upcoming legislation for public places; the inside the workings of event security; how to maintain venue operations after terror incidents; and the latest in high security perimeter protection.

Speakers include: Figen Murray, the mother of Martyn Hett, who died in the terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena in May 2017; The Security Institute’s Rick Mounfield; David Stewart, managing director of Taynuilt Associates Ltd, who led the security function for the 2014 Commonwealth Games;  Paul Jeffrey, chairman, Perimeter Security Suppliers Association; ASM Global;s director of Security, Gary Simpson; and Nick Aldworth, former National Coordinator for Protect and Prepare.
