17 year old charged with terrorism offences

A 17 year old from Gateshead has been charged with seven offences.
The teenager appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court charged with four counts of possessing a document containing information of a kind likely to be of use to a person preparing or committing an act of terrorism and one count of providing a service to others that enabled them to obtain, read, listen to, or look at terrorist publications, or to acquire them, by means of a gift, sale or loan, contrary to section 2(1)(d) of the Terrorism Act 2006.
He is also charged with making and possessing indecent images of children.
He was arrested on 28 July, following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East and was charged on 30th July.
The teenager has been remanded in custody to next appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday 7 August, via video link.
