Big screen fan zones to be banned in France

Reports have claimed that France has announced a blanket ban on 'big screen' fan zones during the World Cup over fears they could become the target of terror attacks. Although they were a prominent feature of the European Championships held in France in 2016, the French Interior Ministry has said that fan zones, which are usually set up in city centres, will be forbidden as part of a new security protocol. France remains on high terror alert following a number of attacks in the country over the last few years, most noticeably in Paris in November 2015 and Nice in July 2016.
