Group suspected of Jordan drone strike suspends operations against US forces

Kataib Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Iraqi militia which is suspected of carrying out the drone strike in Jordan that killed three US troops has announced it has suspended operations against US forces.

The militia is part of an umbrella group which has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kati Hezbollah said the move was to prevent embarrassment of the Iraqi government.

However, the US defence department said: "Actions speak louder than words."

Iran has denied that it was involved.

In a statement, Kataib Hezbollah Secretary-General Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi said: "As we announce the suspension of military and security operations against the occupation forces - in order to prevent embarrassment of the Iraqi government - we will continue to defend our people in Gaza in other ways."
