Five arrests after South London Live Facial Recognition deployment

The Metropolitan Police deployed Live Facial Recognition in Lewisham and Catford on Tuesday 26 March.

The deployment led to five arrests including two for rape, one for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, one for breach of home detention curfew and one for drugs offences.

According to the Met: "LFR is a precision technology that allows images of a person passing the deployment to be compared against a bespoke watchlist of people who the police wish to speak to. When a match is made an alert is generated. An officer will review the match and decide if they wish to speak to the individual."
