UK Government seeking innovations to diagnose biological and chemical agents on the front line

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is looking for innovations that allow front-line clinicians to rapidly diagnose and treat people who have been exposed to biological or chemical agents.

DASA has launched a competition called Point of Care Diagnostics at the Front Line: Phase 2, which follows on from Phase 1. The competition is funded by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and up to £1 million of funding is available for successful entries.

According to a DASA press release, biological and chemical agent exposure is a key issue for deployed personnel. It is hoped that successful innovations from this competition that quickly detect agents and allow faster treatment will help improve UK capability to manage and treat personnel affected by biological and chemical agents.

The closing date for entries is midday on 22 September 2022. A webinar will take place on 3 April to provide more information on the challenge areas and how to submit a proposal.
