Three people arrested after security threat at Stansted Airport

Three people have been arrested following a security threat at Stansted Airport.

Essex Police were called to deal with a security alert on a plane at the airport.

The runway was closed and the plane was moved to a secure part of the airport for enquiries to be carried out.

Specialist officers boarded the EasyJet flight bound for Amsterdam and arrested two men and a woman on suspicion of making a bomb hoax. All three are in custody.

Following a search of the plane, nothing of concern was found on board.

Essex Police said: "We want to thank the other passengers on board for their patience and understanding."
