Minnesota doctor pleads guilty to terror charge

A doctor and former Mayo Clinic research coordinator has pleaded guilty to a terrorism charge in Minnesota.

The plea comes two years after his arrest after telling FBI informants that he wanted to carry out attacks in the US and that he had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group. He also expressed a desire to travel to Syria to fight with ISIS.

Muhammad Masood pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Prosecutors say the Pakistani doctor was in the U.S. on a work visa.
