UN Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism begins in New York

The United Nations Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism will be held on 8 and 9 September at the UN Headquarters in New York. It will also be live-streamed to allow for virtual participation. The Congress aims to provide a platform for victims of terrorism to share their experiences, challenges, stories of their resilience, and contributions to wider society and to advocate for the strengthening and upholding of their rights and effective fulfilment of their needs. Speakers include United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov, the co-chairs of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism, the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of Spain, and other senior United Nations and international community representatives.
