Counter Terrorism Policing shares advice on preparing for public events following the death of the Queen

Following the announcement of the death of Her Majesty the Queen yesterday, Counter Terrorism Policing has shared information on preparing for public events during the period of mourning.

A State Funeral will be held, preceded by a period of Lying-In-State - dates of which are expected to be announced in due course.

Counter Terrorism Policing expects there to be several events taking place across the UK.

They said: “We would like to reassure you that local police forces have plans in place to resource large gatherings and increased footfall in certain locations, including our towns and city centres.“

They also shared guidance for organisations and business to help keep communities safe during this time.

The advice includes reporting anything that doesn’t seem right to https://act.campaign.gov.uk/, calling 999 in an emergency and promoting security measures that are in place as part of event communications. They also recommend amplifying Counter Terrorism Policing vigilance social media messaging, by sharing on own accounts and ensuring that staff have completed the ACT learning package which is available here: https://www.protectuk.police.uk/catalogue

Counter Terrorism Policing said: “Counter Terrorism Policing sends deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this incredibly sad, and historic, moment in time.”
