Man arrested in Germany on suspicion of planning an attack

An Iranian national has been arrested by anti-terror investigators in Germany on suspicion of preparing a religiously motivated attack.

It is believed the suspect had procured poisons including cyanide and ricin and a flat in Castrop-Rauxel, near Dortmund, was searched for biological weapons by Emergency service personnel wearing protective suits and oxygen masks. However, authorities have confirmed that no evidence was found. It is believed the arrest followed a tip-off from a foreign intelligence agency.

It has been reported that two men have been taken into custody, including the 34-year-old Iranian national. The other man is believed to be his brother.

Investigations into how far plans for an attack had progressed and whether or not there was a concrete target are underway.
