Two men sentenced for terrorism offences in Manchester

After being found guilty in July, two men have been sentenced for terrorism offences at Manchester Crown Court.

Ahmiri Ahmedi Azizi has been sentenced to 10 years and Mohammed Hussini to seven years.

Azizi was arrested in November 2021 after an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North-East (CTP NE) found an online exchange of violent extremist material support Daesh. CTP NE digital experts were able to access his phone and found evidence of sharing violent Islamist extremist material with the intention of encouraging terrorism.

Hussini was arrested in February 2022, after his digital connection with Azizi was discovered.

Detective Chief Superintendent Peter Craig, head of Counter Terrorism Policing North-East said: “Terrorist groups such as Daesh rely heavily on their propaganda being shared online where it is used to radicalise, encourage support and provoke individuals to carry out attacks abroad and in the UK.

“Tackling extremist material is an essential part of protecting the public and preventing offences that incite or encourage acts of terrorism”.
