Man in Australia pleads guilty to inciting terrorism overseas

Abdussalam Adina-Zada, a former University of Western Australia researcher, who is considered one of Western Australia's most dangerous people, has admitted inciting extremist attacks overseas.

Federal authorities had been following Adina-Zada since February 2020, when they became aware of an “online video-sharing platform account hosting content that called for acts of politically motivated violence” in Tajikistan.

In April that year, Australian Federal Police raided his home and seized a number of electronic devices.

The former biochemist was charged in December 2021 with advocating doing a terrorist act, which carries a maximum six-year jail term.

Adina-Zada has been behind bars since his arrest, he is expected to be sentenced later this month.
