Speaker line-up announced for CTB365 event

The second CTB365 event, taking place on 8 October, will look at event security and the protection of public places. Run by Counter Terror Business, the event is promising an expert range of speakers who are set to delve into a range of the most topical issues affecting event security.

Hosted once again by Philip Ingram, the virtual event has never been more important. The current coronavirus pandemic has halted spectators attending events across the continent, with the proposed return of spectators in October postponed due to fears of a second wave of the virus. Therefore, any future ‘doors open’ date needs to backed by industry led opinion, as well as trials across UK venues.

This means that, all being well with ongoing efforts to tackle the spread of the virus, the already congested event schedule for 2021 needs to be assured that security and safety have never been stronger. Although the main threat at the moment is virus transmission, it would be foolish to ignore the attempts of terrorists to target event venues and stadia in recent years.

It is therefore exciting to have Figen Murray and Nick Aldworth speaking about the current state of Martyn’s Law and future legislation for the protection of public places. The needs for Martyn’s Law has never been greater, and as the recent Manchester Arena Inquiry has shown, the need for action should not be delayed.

The Security Institute’s Rick Mounfield spoke at our first CTB365 event and will be joining us again to discuss the role of the security officer in deterring, detection and delaying the threat to public safety. The input of the Security Institute brings another added bonus, with all CTB365 events CPD-Accredited – meaning that delegates will earn double CPD points for attending.

Following Rick’s presentation, Gary Simpson, Director of Security at ASM Global, will be speaking on the inside workings of event security, highlighting the benefits of effective strategy management. Gary works closely with event venue teams and is involved in every aspect of making ASM Global’s arenas, stadiums, conference and exhibition centres and theatres safe and secure.

A regular contributor to Counter Terror Business, the Perimeter Security Suppliers Association will also be sharing their expert knowledge, with chairman Paul Jeffrey examining the latest developments in high security perimeter protection, before David Stewart, Managing Director of Taynuilt Associates, gives a focused view on how best to maintain venue operations after terror incidents. David is a former police Chief Superintendent who, during his service, led on two of the four UK Counter Terrorism Strategy elements for Scotland’s largest police force.

As well as the Security Institute and the Perimeter Security Suppliers Association, we are very fortunate to have the International Security Expo partner with us for the event, as well as welcome Evolv Technology as our headline sponsor alongside Visual Management Systems.
