Saudi Arabia and India pledge cooperation after Kashmir attacks

Speaking at a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said terrorism was a common concern with India and that his country was ready to share intelligence to tackle it.

The crown prince said Saudi Arabia was ready for political cooperation with India: “On the issue of extremism and terrorism, which is a common concern, we want to tell India that we will cooperate in every way, including intelligence sharing,”

His visit comes days after a militant attack in Kashmir in which 40 Indian paramilitary police were killed.

The Indian government has blamed a Pakistan-based terrorist organization for the attack.

"We demand Pakistan to stop misleading the international community and take credible and visible action against the perpetrators of Pulwama terrorist attack and other terrorists and terror groups operating from areas under their control," India's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman added "It is a well-known fact that Jaish-e-Mohammad and its leader Masood Azhar are based in Pakistan. These should be sufficient proof for Pakistan to take action."

During the press briefing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had agreed with Saudi Arabia to strengthen cooperation on counter-terrorism, naval and cyber security.
