Terrorism police fear reactivated ISIS cells across Europe

Counter terrorism police are investigating whether sleepers from Islamic State have been reactivated to carry out attacks around Europe, following two arrests in Spain last week.

The first of the arrests in Spain was Britain's most wanted ISIS fugitive, Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary. The 29-year-old is reported to have links with dead British ISIS executioner Jihadi John, and is thought to have reached Spain by boat from Algeria and come ashore unnoticed just five days before his arrest.

Some. News outlets, including the Daily Mail, claim that Bary took advantage of Spain's coronavirus lockdown to hide behind a face mask on the rare occasions he left the property.

An unnamed Moroccan man was also arrested in Barcelona, having been suspected of plotting to carry out a 'lone wolf' attack.
