Essex man arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences

A 42-year-old man from Essex has been arrested by officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit on suspicion of making threats to kill.

The as-of-yet unnamed man was subsequently detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and taken to a London police station, where he remains in custody.

The investigation, which began on 30 August, is being led by detectives from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command and officers continue to search a residential address in the Saffron Walden area in Essex.
