Man charged with terrorism offences

A 35-year-old man from Cleckheaton has been charged with terrorism offences.

Following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East, Tygue Joseph Crowther has been charged with offences including one count of encouraging terrorism, contrary to Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006; one count of disseminating a terrorist publication, contrary to Section 2 of Terrorism Act 2006; and six counts of collecting information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.  

Crowther was arrested on 12 June and appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday 25 October.

He will appear at the Central Criminal Court on 22 November.
