Man appears in court accused of sending hoax packages to police stations

A man has appeared in court accused of sending hoax packages to police stations across the country.

Andrew Ostromeki is facing eight charges over the campaign in April this year.

The 48-year-old is alleged to have sent a substance by post to stations in Leicester and Leicestershire Police headquarters in Enderby with intent to induce a person to believe it was likely to be noxious.

A preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey set a four-week trial for 20 November. A plea hearing was also for 18 August and the case transferred to Birmingham Crown Court.
