Investigation launched after truck crashes near White House

An investigation has been launched after a truck was apparently deliberately crashed into security barriers near the White House on Monday night.

The driver of the truck has been detained and there are no reports of any injuries.

It has been reported that a Nazi swastika flag was found inside the rented truck.

On Twitter, Anthony Guglielmi, the chief of communications for the Secret Service said: "The truck has been deemed safe by @DCPoliceDept & preliminary investigation reveals the driver may have intentionally struck the security barriers at Lafayette Square. Charges will be filed by the United States Park Police with investigative support from the #SecretService."
