Local media names two brothers behind Belgium bombings

Local media in Belgium has named two brothers thought to be behind the attacks that took place on 22 March. Belgium’s RTBF broadcaster has released the names of the two men, Khalid and Brahim el-Bakraoui, who it claims were among the suspected ISIL militants who launched suicide attacks at Brussels Airport and Maalbeek station. The most up to date reports from Belgium suggest that Brahim was involved in the explosions at the airport, while Khalid was involved in the Metro attack. An alert had reportedly been put out on the pair following the raids on a flat in the Forest area of Brussel’s last week, in which a Kalashnikov, book about Salafism and ISIL flag was found alongside a large quantity of ammunition. A police source has reportedly confirmed to the RTBF broadcaster that Khalid rented the flat under a false identity.
