Khan ‘has done a very bad job on terrorism’

In a sensational interview with the Sun, US President Donald Trump claimed that Mayor of London Sadiq Khan ‘has done a very bad job on terrorism’.

Published as the President and the First Lady dined with Prime Minister Theresa May at Blenheim Palace, the interview, which also focused heavily on UK trade with the US post-Brexit and former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson’s leadership credentials, saw President Trump continue his war of words with Khan by saying that ‘allowing millions and millions of people to come into Europe is very, very sad’, before highlighting Khan’s role in this by telling the newspaper that ‘you have a mayor who has done a terrible job in London’.

Following four attacks in the capital last year, Trump said that when you ‘look at what is going on in London, I think he has done a very bad job on terrorism’, before adding that he [Khan] has also ‘done a bad job on crime’.

Trump made tackling illegal US immigration one of the planks of his 2016 election campaign, and said that allowing European immigration ‘changed the fabric of Europe and, unless you act very quickly, it’s never going to be what it was and I don’t mean that in a positive way’.
