Two appear in court over Lyra McKee shooting

Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee in April 2019.

Peter Gearóid Cavanagh, 35 and Jordan Devine, 21, appeared remotely at Belfast Crown Court from their solicitors' offices and denied murder.

McKee was shot dead while observing rioting in Londonderry. The New IRA later claimed that its members were responsible for the death.

The two men also denied charges of possessing a handgun and ammunition with intent, and damaging a truck with fire.

Cavanagh, Devine and a third man Joseph Anthony Farren also denied possessing a petrol bomb in suspicious circumstances, rioting and throwing a petrol bomb on 18 April 2019.
