One dead, two injured in Paris attack
One man has died and two others have been injured in an attack in Paris.
The attack, which involved a knife and a hammer, took place around 21:00 local time on Saturday.
A German tourist was killed when he was attacked on the Quai de Grenelle, near the Eiffel Tower. Two other people, including a British man, were injured when they were attacked with a hammer.
A 26-year-old French man has been arrested and anti-terrorism prosecutors have opened an investigation. The investigation is into murder and attempted murder in connection with a terrorist organisation.
According to anti-terrorism Prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard, the attacker had pledged allegiance to Islamic State in a video.
It has been reported that the attacker told police that he was angry about the situation in Gaza and that muslims were dying in Afghanistan and Palestine.
In 2016, the suspect was sentenced to four years in prison for planning another attack and was on the watch list of the French security services.
