Counter-terror police partake in exercise in Canary Wharf

Counter-terror police held a major training exercise in a shopping centre in Canary Wharf to help staff and officers prepare for any future attack. The six hour exercise began at 11pm and involved, briefing local business to keep them aware that the exercise was taking place and shutting an underground entrance. The news comes after Scotland Yard announced it is deploying counter-terror police spotters across London to help foil planned attacks. The operation, codenamed Project Servator, includes a picture of plain-clothes and high visibility specialist squads have been trained to spot suspicious behaviour. Teams will be sent to potential targets including mainline train, tube and bus stations as well as shopping centres. A Met Police spokesman commented: “A training exercise to test the response of police and partners to a terrorist attack was held in Canary Wharf. “This will be one of many exercises held regularly across the country and is not in response to any specific threat.”
