Abedi 'not known' to anti-extremism scheme

Greater Manchester Police has revealed that Manchester suicide attacker Salman Abedi was not known to the government's Prevent scheme. It had been reported that Abedi was on the scheme, which aims to deradicalise young people or prevent others from being radicalised, but chief constable Ian Hopkins has said that, despite arrest for minor offences in 2012, ‘Abedi was not known to the Prevent programme, was not on any sort of Prevent agenda’.
