Anti-terror officer charged with misconduct

A senior anti-terrorist police officer has became the first person to be charged in connection with misconduct by public officials in their dealings with newspapers.

DCI April Casburn, 53, former head of the national terrorist financial investigation unit, was charged with misconduct in a public office after a file of evidence was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service by officers from Operation Elveden, the investigation into allegations of corrupt payments by newspapers and misconduct by public officials including police officers, prison officers and members of the armed forces.
