Westminster attacker named

The Metropolitan Police force has released a statement indicating that the man believed to be responsible for the terrorist attack in Westminster is Khalid Masood. Police believe Masood, who died in the attack and was responsible for the deaths of PC Keith Palmer, Aysha Frade and American Kurt Cochran, was aged 52 (25.12.1964) was born in Kent. Intelligence suggests he was most recently living in the West Midlands. According to the statement, Masood was not the subject of any current investigations and there was no prior intelligence about his intent to mount a terrorist attack. However, the suspect was known to police and has a range of previous convictions for assaults, including GBH, possession of offensive weapons and public order offences. Masood has not been convicted for any terrorism offences.
