Changes to UK aviation security

Large phones, tablets and laptops are now allowed in the cabin on some flights to the UK from Turkey and Tunisia. Restrictions on carrying large phones, tablets and laptops in the cabin have been lifted on all UK bound lights from Istanbul Sahiba Gökçen airport in Turkey and Tunis-Carthage International airport in Tunisia. Passengers on flights where restrictions have been lifted will now be able to take these items into the cabin with them. Normal cabin baggage restrictions will continue to apply. Restrictions were introduced in March from Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia. However, after working with the aviation industry and international partners to introduce tough additional security measures, the UK government has begun lifting the restrictions on some UK-bound flights. Restrictions remain in place at other airports and will be lifted on a case-by-case basis once the UK government has verified that airlines have put in place alternative security measures, and that it is safe to do so.
