Campaign for counter-terrorism security in public landscapes launched

Marshalls designs include street furniture and litter bins with hidden security features

Marshalls Plc has launched a national public safety campaign to address the need for integrating counter-terrorism security into the design of public landscapes.

The UK’s leading hard landscaping specialist, which was headline sponsor at the Counter Terror Expo 2011 in London, also exhibited its range of counter-terrorism product designs.

These included design-led PAS 68 tested street furniture such as seating, planters, cycle stands and litter bins with hidden security features that allow for sensitive integration with streetscapes.

Chris Harrop, Group Marketing Director at Marshalls said: “We understand that designers of public realm need the security industry to innovate - providing products that respond to the challenges presented by the threats of terrorism without compromising design integrity."

“We believe that it is incumbent upon all of us operating in the public realm, to consider and address the threats presented by terrorism in an imaginative, sustainable and proportionate way, and we hope our campaign fosters this sentiment.
