Khater charged with attempted murder

Salih Khater has been charged with attempted murder after crashing a car outside the Houses of Parliament on 14 August. The 29-year-old from Birmingham is seeing the case being treated as terrorism by the Metropolitan Police and will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 20 August. The incident saw three people injured. Government sources had revealed that the suspect, originally from Sudan, is not believed to have been known to MI5 or counter-terrorism police, but may have been known to local police.
