Parsons Green bomber assessed weeks before attack

A multi-agency panel set up to assess his risk of being drawn into terrorism assessed Ahmed Hassan’s case less than a fortnight before the attack at Parsons Green. The attack on the tube last September, which injured more than 50 people, was detonated 10 days after Hassan was assessed by the Channel panel, which aims to assess his risk of being drawn into terrorism. A Home Office inquiry set up after he was jailed for 34 years in March found that no formal written plan was put in place during the 15 months that he was subject to the programme, with the inquiry focusing too little on his mental health problems and absences from his foster home and too much on his education.
