Sir Michael Fallon to host Counter Terror Awards

Counter Terror Business magazine is pleased to announce that Sir Michael Fallon will host the inaugural Counter Terror Awards.

Taking place during the Security & Counter Terror Expo, the Awards will recognise organisations from the UK and overseas over ten categories for their contributions to reducing the threat from global terrorism.

Sir Michael Fallon, who has been the MP for Sevenoaks since 1997, has served in the governments of four Prime Ministers, most recently as Defence Secretary under Theresa May’s premiership, having first undertaken the position in 2014. In this role, Sir Michael had overall responsibility for our armed forces, the defence of the UK and relations with allies around the world. He was a member of the National Security Council from 2014 until his resignation in November 2017.

Fallon said: “I’m delighted to be hosting the first Counter Terror Awards at SCTX this year. The sharing of information and best practice is absolutely critical in our united fight against terrorism and the coming together of such a large number of leading European security professionals is a great way to facilitate that. Whether it’s cyber or physical attacks, the UK has demonstrated that it leads the way in protecting civilians and assets, and it’s important to recognise the people and organisations that contribute to our national security.”

David Thompson, event director of the Security & Counter Terror Expo, added: “Sir Michael brings a wealth of experience to the event and we’re looking forward to his address from the time he spent leading the UK’s armed forces and protecting the security and interests of the country.”

Sir Michael continues to take a strong interest in all his areas of former responsibility and now makes regular contributions to government policy from the backbenches in Parliament.
