IOC state confidence for Olympic safety following London riots

Security is stated to be a top priority

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) have stated they have 'complete confidence' over the safety at the 2012 Olympic Games, following the London riots, the BBC have reported.

A series of Olympic tests events are taking place around the capital as part of the London Prepares Series.

An IOC spokesman stated that security is a top priority but that it was not its direct responsibility, and said: "That is something for the authorities in London in whom we have complete confidence."

A London 2012 spokeswoman who stated that security measures were continually updated, said: "A lot of detailed work has taken place regarding security plans for the Games and we will continue to review them together with the Met Police and the Home Office over the coming year."
