Brentwood businesses invited to take part in simulated terrorist attack

Event will help businesses identify measures to take for preventing and recovering from a terrorist attack

Local businesses in Brentwood are being invited to take part in a simulated terrorist attack.

The free event, which takes place on 8th July 2011 at the Nightingale Centre in Warley will help them identify the measures to take for preventing, handling and recovering from a terrorist attack.

The council teamed up with the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) to deliver the initiative, called Project ARGUS (Area Reinforcement Gained Using Scenarios).

Brentwood Borough Council and Essex Police are providing this exercise free of charge and invitations have been sent to all businesses in the Borough.

Councillor Mark Reed, Chair of the Business & Community Panel said: "Whether you are a national chain or a small business, Project Argus will be providing a unique opportunity to learn from and contribute to valuable lessons."

"It will be helping to protect you, your business and your community will help you prepare and have the necessary plans in place to help safeguard your staff, customers and your company assets."
