Acting Met boss witnessed Westminster attack from car

Sir Craig Mackey has said that he witnessed the murder of PC Keith Palmer during the Westminster attack from inside his car. The Metropolitan Police's acting commissioner said that, although it was his instinct to get out of the car when he saw Khalid Masood attack the Palace of Westminster on 22 March last year, he didn’t because he had no protective equipment. The coroner had ruled that all five victims of last year’s attack - PC Palmer, 48, Kurt Cochran, 54, Leslie Rhodes, 75, Aysha Frade, 44, and Andreea Cristea, 31 - had been unlawfully killed. Sir Craig Mackey, now the deputy commissioner of Scotland Yard, is due to retire on December.
