Former UN home secretary stresses co-ordination to tackle terror

Former Union Home Secretary K Padmanabhaiah has stressed the need for effective co-ordination between different wings of the police department to tackle terrorism, as he suggested the need to develop an anti-terrorism manual.

Speaking at the inauguration of a 'National Workshop on Counter-terrorism' organised by the Centre for Human Security Studies (CHSS) in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy (APPA) here, he said the home department should have a high-level commitment and the intelligence wing has to improve its style of working.

"Intelligence gathering and information related to extremist activities need to be updated regularly and in a speedy manner. When these things are not done, terror acts will rise," he said, laying emphasise on an anti-terror manual.
