The Counter Terror Awards 2018

The Counter Terror Awards will recognise strategies, procedural excellence and technologies which help to mitigate the threats from terrorism

Acts of terrorism are designed to influence an audience beyond the immediate victims, and have been used throughout history to strike fear into the population. The tragic and despicable events of the early 21st Century have forced the international community to act. Increasingly sophisticated strategies and technologies are being employed by organisations throughout the world in order to counter the threat. The Counter Terror Awards will be staged to recognise the efforts of organisations in both the public and private sectors and their contributions to counter terror strategy in the UK and overseas, as well as the vital role played by the military and emergency services in mitigating terrorist threats and striving to keep the public safe.

The Counter Terror Awards are in partnership with 'Security and Counter Terror Expo' and supported by Counter Terror Business magazine as well as the National Counter Terrorism Security Office and 8 other key Associations. It will take place for the first time on 6th March 2018 at the Novotel London West hotel.

There are 20 different categories to enter and all shortlisted finalists will be invited to the dinner which will be a 'black tie' event

The categories are as follows:

Counter Terrorism Project (UK/Ireland)
Presented to a governmental organisation or public/private partnership which has developed and implemented an effective counter terrorism strategy or awareness campaign.

Counter Terrorism Project (International)
Presented to an overseas governmental organisation or public/ private partnership which has developed and implemented an effective counter terrorism strategy or awareness campaign.

Counter Terrorism Education Project
Presented to an organisation or partnership which has developed and implemented measures to help combat the threat of radicalisation in educational or religious institutions.

Counter Terror Information Sharing Award
Recognising an organisation which has developed and introduced an effective information sharing strategy

Cyber Security / Counter Terrorism Technology Award
Presented to an organisation which has developed effective technologies to protect against the threat of cyber terrorism

Best Use of Information Technology in Counter Terrorism
This award recognises the project which makes best use of information technology to assist in counter terror strategy

Physical Security Award
This award recognises a product which, as part of an overall design, provides effective physical security to protect against and mitigate the effects of a terrorist attack

Perimeter Protection Award
Presented to the private sector organisation which has designed and/or installed physical security measures to protect buildings and individuals from terrorist attack

Threat Detection Award
This award recognises products which assist in the detection and disruption of terrorist threats to the UK and its interests.

Airport Security Award
Recognising the efforts of private and public sector organisations and the technology which assists in increasing security at airports

CBRNE Product Award
Presented to the product which has the potential to provide effective protection for emergency services and/or civilians against attack from Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear weapons

UAV Product Award
Presented to the most innovative product developed for the purpose of protection against hostile drones.

Communication Systems Award
This award recognises communication systems and their potential to assist organisations in both threat detection and post-terrorism communication between governmental and emergency service organisations

Forensic Science Award
Presented to the practical application of a product or procedure which can assist in identifying and bringing terrorists to justice and has potential to bolster homeland security

Terrorism Research Award
Presented to an Academic Institution or Individual whose work has contributed to a better understanding of terrorist operations and ideologies

Emergency Services Award
Presented to an Emergency Service (Police, Fire, Ambulance) which has implemented and tested a strategy to cope with terrorist attack

Emergency Services Product Award
Presented to a product designed for the emergency services which has the potential to mitigate the effects of terrorist attack

Private Sector Contribution to Counter Terrorism Award
Recognising an organisation or individual in the Private sector whose efforts have furthered the understanding of terrorist activities and assisted in developing effective prevention strategies

Public Sector Contribution to Counter Terrorism Award
Recognising an organisation or individual in the Public/Charity sector whose efforts have furthered the understanding of terrorist activities and assisted in developing effective prevention strategies

Outstanding Contribution to Counter Terrorism
Recognising an organisation or individual from either the private or government sector whose contribution to worldwide
